Welcome - Message from the Principal

KMS Principal Jake Skelly

Knox Community Middle School has begun to distinguish itself as a unique place to grow and learn where teachers challenge our students to "beat their personal best" each day. The foundation for this continued success is fostered through building good character: respect, caring, trustworthiness, responsibility, citizenship, and teamwork.

At KMS, we prepare our students for high school and beyond through our rigorous curriculum, including our recently added Apex e-Learning solutions systems. Apex offers online courses in Mathematics, Science, English Language Arts, Social Studies, Foreign Languages, the Fine Arts, Health, Physical Education, and Advanced Placement. Our teachers and staff are professionally skilled and personally committed to meeting the individual needs of each student.

KMS is an academic institution with high expectations for our students and staff members; however, we also believe that school and learning can and should be a FUN and EXCITING experience. KMS offers students outstanding and unique opportunities to engage in, including our new “Makerspace” area which brings what students learn in the classroom to life.  Our Makerspace will create opportunities in the areas of: STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) Activities, engineering, robotics, coding, gaming design, 3D printing, electrical systems, designing, building, problem solving, and invention.  KMS also provides classes in culinary arts, pottery, music theory, band, choir, fitness, aquatics, newspaper reporting/editing, web design, computer science, and much more. Our students participate in numerous academic, athletic, and performing arts teams and compete at high levels in all areas.

At KMS we are a 100% 1:1 learning environment where all of our students in Grades 5-8 have a Chromebook to use and will own after paying for 3 years of book rental.

At Knox Middle School we strive to make learning challenging and FUN at the same time with an emphasis on preparing students for the future.
